Orthodontics

The Orthodontics module centralizes the clinical record, planning, and follow-up of each patient's orthodontic treatment. It allows the creation of exams, documentation of findings (extraoral and intraoral), definition of the work plan and treatment plan, generation of a clinical summary, and attachment of supporting images in one place.

Access to the module

From the patient's file, go to the Orthodontics tab. There you will see the list of the patient's orthodontic exams, including date, status, clinic, and doctor.

List of exams

  • Create a new exam: click + New Exam to start an orthodontic record.
  • View exam: click the View button to consult or complete the exam information.
  • Statuses: the exam can be managed by status (for example, active), facilitating the identification of the current record.

Orthodontic Exam

When opening an exam, the information is organized into tabs for a clear workflow: Clinical Exam, Work Plan, Treatment Plan, Summary, and Images. Additionally, the system can display History / versions of the exam to maintain traceability of changes.

General exam data

  • Doctor: selection of the responsible professional.
  • Clinic: selection of the clinic associated with the exam.
  • General notes: open field for relevant clinical observations.
  • Options: access to exam actions (according to permissions/configuration).
  • Save: each tab includes its save action to persist changes.

Tab: Clinical Exam

This tab gathers the detailed clinical record of the patient. The form is structured by sections (with controls to show/hide areas) and combines selection fields, checkboxes, and free notes to document findings.

  • History / background: space to record relevant clinical information and case context.
  • Extraoral exam: general evaluation (for example, facial and functional aspects) with structured fields and notes.
  • Facial asymmetry: record of asymmetries, laterality, and associated comments.
  • Profile and soft tissues: clinical documentation of the profile, lip relationship, and complementary observations.
  • Intraoral exam: evaluation of mucous membranes, gums, and intraoral structures with notes by area.
  • Tongue and gum: specific fields to record tone/position and gingival evaluation.
  • Upper and lower arch: record of arch shape, alignment, and observations.
  • Teeth and occlusion (additional): section for variables or complementary details of the case.
  • Observations: final field to consolidate clinical comments.

Recommendation: save periodically while completing the clinical exam to avoid loss of information.

Tab: Work Plan

The Work Plan organizes the required studies and necessary consultations, in addition to defining the diagnosis and clinical objectives.

  • Section: checklist of supplies/studies (for example, photographs, models, and imaging studies) and a field for Notes.
  • X-rays: checklist of requested X-rays and specific Notes.
  • Consultations: checklist for referrals or consultations with related specialties and attachments.
  • Reports: text field to input reports or clinical conclusions.
  • Definitive diagnosis: diagnostic consolidation of the case.
  • Objective: definition of treatment objectives.
  • Save: save button to persist all information in this tab.

Tab: Treatment Plan

In this tab, the orthodontic treatment is defined in a structured manner: dates, estimated times, selection of techniques, appliances, and complementary details of the plan.

Plan header

  • Start date: planned start of treatment.
  • Estimated time: estimated duration (in months).
  • End date: estimated completion date.
  • Types / selectors: dropdown fields to classify or parameterize the plan (according to clinical configuration).

  • Bands and tubes: upper/lower configuration (adhesives and welded).
  • Extractions: selection according to planning.

Tab: Summary

The Summary allows for a synthesized clinical view of the case, useful for quick reviews and internal communication.

  • Dates: date fields (format dd/mm/yyyy) to record treatment milestones.
  • Time (months): estimated duration of the plan.
  • Type of brackets: selection via dropdown.
  • Diagnosis: text field to record summarized diagnosis.
  • Upper / lower anchorage: quick selection.
  • Note: general observations of the summary.

Tab: Images

This section organizes the exam images in a gallery. Each file is displayed as a card with basic information (for example, size and date) and may include a title.

  • Upload image: allows attaching new images to the exam.
  • Gallery: quick view of the material associated with the case.

Best practices

  • Complete in stages: start with Clinical Exam → Work Plan → Treatment Plan → Summary → Images.
  • Save frequently: use the save buttons on each tab to avoid losing changes.
  • Use checklists: standardizes the collection of studies, X-rays, and consultations.
  • Attach evidence: upload relevant images to support diagnosis and follow-up.
  • History: consult previous versions when you need clinical traceability.
